Hopefully by now you all follow me on Facebook - if not you would have missed out on seeing all the photos from the Cowgirls & Angels concert that was held at Hokitika's Regent Theatre on Friday 27th July. Click below to see the album and also more video footage will be uploaded to YouTube in the following weeks.
I was one of the organisers and couldn't be more happy with the turn out we had. The theatre was packed and we got a great little write up in the Hokitika Guardian. "Katie was in fine lyrical voice, singing quiet soulful country ballads, with a bit of raunchiness." So what's next . . . Well this time next week I will be packing my bags getting ready to head to the National Country Music Awards as a nominee for New Zealand Female Artist of the Year 2012. I will be performing at Sky City Hamilton on Friday 10th and attending the awards on Sat 11th. Des Hetherington from Hokitika will also be heading up to represent the Coalrangers which are in the Group of the Year category. Good As Gold has just been released to Radio in Australia! This means you can contact any station over there and let them know you want to hear Good As Gold which is out on #159 CRS . http://crspublicity.com.au/crs-cd/159/katie-thompson/ So this will all keep me rather busy but if you've been paying attention on Facebook big things are underway and I'm going to once again need your support in spreading the word. It's all very exciting and means NEW SONGS!!!! So stay tuned boys & girls . . . . Katie Thank you to everyone for their vote for the Kiwi Pro-Am Country Music Awards.
Thanks to you all I am now a finalist for Female Artist of the Year and will be travelling up to Hamilton to be a part of the weekend in August. West Coast singer/songwriter Katie Thompson is one of the nominees for Female Artist of the Year at the 2012 New Zealand Country Music Awards.
2011 was a busy year for Katie, releasing her 2nd album Impossible, opening for Sir Elton John and the release of 3 singles with accompanying music videos. The single’s “Good As Gold”, “Impossible” & “Cruel to Be Kind” all made it onto separate Kiwi Hit Discs – this is a NZ On Air produced promotional CD which is mailed to every radio station in New Zealand. Katie received funding from NZ On Air to make the music video for her latest release “Cruel to Be Kind”. With a South Island tour complete she is now planning a National tour come summer. Katie was a finalist for Female Artist of the Year 2011 and would relish the chance to attend the awards as a finalist in August. “I really enjoyed getting to meet the other artists. It’s not often you get to be in the same room as a true self made country legend like Dennis Marsh and have a laugh or two with him. Being a part of an award night like this is an amazing opportunity,” she said. The top 3 finalists are selected by online votes here: http://www.kiwiproamcountrymusic.co.nz/ Voting closes 30th June.
