Around 10 years ago I went on a bus trip to Jacksons to celebrate Mr Ric O'Shea's birthday. We wound up at the Jacksons Pub (this is somewhere in between Hokitika & Christchurch) and The Shot Band was on tour and playing that night. I danced all night and ended up grabbing a copy of their album. Flash forward to around May 2012 I was thinking about what I'd like to record next. I sat down and wrote a list of original songs and also some covers I'd like to record. When playing them all through I thought "hmm where's that Shot Band album" as I'd remembered I loved one of the tracks called "Dead In The Water". To try and cut a long story short I decided I'd like to record that song so I sent the guys an email to ask if it was alright if I cover it and also for the lyrics. One of the original lines was the ashtray just keeps getting higher. If you've read my previous posts you'll see I managed to con my father into quitting smoking so I wasn't keen on singing that line and asked if they also wouldn't mind me replacing it with the bottle just keeps getting lighter (no alcoholics in my family so no problems as far as I'm concerned). I sent Rob Joass (the writing and member of The Shot Band) the finished copy of the track and a couple of days later I got an email inquiring whether I might like to do a double billed tour with the boys.....answer - hell yea! So I'm guessing from that they thought I done an alright job of it..... We met up officially last month and played a couple of shows together. They're all really great guys and amazing musicians so spending a couple of weeks on a nationwide tour with them will be great! I also flew up to Wellington last week to record a track with them and also get some photos - I've seen a couple and man we look sharp!! :) I'll leave you with a live video of us performing Dead in the Water together!! Will show you the photos & give you the dates of the tour ASAP!!! Cheers Katie

I've been rather slack with the old well wishing for 2013 this year but I have good reason. You may have heard my new track Moving On and as the title suggests I'm moving from the West Coast to Christchurch. Nothing like changing your entire life right?? So I am packing up 3 years of living in the same house (not as bad as 40 years as my nana reminded me yesterday) but painful nonetheless. I have collected soooo muchhhh crap! My fairy godmother is welcome to come along with her wand any minute now! Anywho...Early January we got to celebrate the marriage of our friends Shirley & Adam. They had a lovely day - even made get all teary eyed at the speeches. So these are the reasons I've been a tad slow. You may also be wondering what is happening with the EP. Don't worry I'm still working on it. I'm currently sorting out the design and layout and shall let you know of any further updates. THE STORYTELLERS' TOUR The tour with Fleur Jack was awesome!!!! It was the first time I'd been to places like Raglan & New Plymouth and really enjoyed it - we had some great people take us in and feed us and some pretty dam cool people show up to the gigs. All up I think we covered around 3,500km - not bad for two girls in a little car roaming around the country side. Click the pic above to see more pics from the tour. PRETTY NEW PICS You may have seen some new photos up on my facebook page. When I was up in Auckland I was lucky enough to get a photoshoot with Laura Tait. She does amazing work and you can check out more of the photos here. WHAT NEXT
So boys & girls I'm trying to decide on a font for the EP . . .
I'm stuck between two different fonts so I thought I'd give you a choice and see which one is the most popular. If there is one you think suits the best head to my Facebook page and write the number of the one you like or leave a message at the bottom . . . BIG decision people!!!!
