If you came across this post because of my post on Facebook and the photo hehehe good on ya! No he's not the actor for the music video - I just like his hat!...hmmmm

So......we are set to shoot the music video for Leave Your Hat On and we need a house in Christchurch for one of the scenes. The description from the director -

We're after a high roof villa with an ornate fire place as pictured (below). The room will be dressed with animal hides and other bits & pieces. A working fire would be a bonus but not required.

This would be the second location for the day so we would need to be able to use your home from around 2-6pm Saturday 11th October.

If you have a home that fits the description or know someone that might be keen to have a professional crew in their home making a music video then let me know on the form below.
A photo of the room would be AMAZING!!!

3rd Time's a Charm???....

I warn you now - this is a rant!!

You will be aware I won Artist Signal in July and with it $10,000 if not check out my previous blog! Artist Signal promptly sent the cheque and I took it to my bank. I was told that there was no way they would cash it and that the company would have to send it via electronic bank transfer.

This wasn't an option for Artist Signal so I went back to the bank and they said they would be able to take it I would just have to wait a month for it to clear (blah blah bank terminology about how it gets from A to B, I don't care just give me the money!)

So Artist Signal was lovely enough to send me another cheque. I spent an hour or so in the bank signing things and sorting everything out......thinking by the end of Sept I will be a heck of a lot richer than I currently am now.

Fast forward to today.

Westpac Bank Hello Katie (pleasantries from nice lady) we have lost your cheque.......
Me what do you mean - are you joking
Westpac Bank I'm so sorry, I'm not sure how it got lost
Me how does a bank manage to lose a $10,000 cheque?
Westpac Bank I'm really sorry please get the cheque reissued and we will sort it out

Me this will be the 3rd time I have to get a cheque....
Westpac Bank we will waiver the fee

Me that's nice...........but you lost my cheque.

I had to hang up before I lost my shit at a perfectly nice lady just doing her job. Question - how does a bank lose $10,000 cheque......what would they say if they lost $10,000 cash.....sorry?

Think it's time I look for a new bank.

End of rant.

Katie Thompson has been carving her pathway within the country music scene in New Zealand, although her sound transcends the singer-songwriter “format”, bleeding into genres as diverse as rock, pop, folk and more.

After reaching the top spot with her single Leave Your Hat On on the audience.co.nz Wildcard Funding Chart thanks to her supporters, fans and friends, Katie kept working hard on spreading the word about her music.

Katie was thrilled to take out the Top Artist prize on Artist Signal in July 2014, winning $10,000 to go towards her music career. Katie’s fanbase, plus other listeners on the site rallied around to vote for her. The Artist Signal competition features incredible artists from all over the world, and Katie is proud to bring the prize home as the first ever winner from New Zealand!

“The support I have received has been amazing and I’d like to say thank you to everyone who put in the votes. This would have never happened without you. Thanks so much for allowing me to keep doing what I love and to keep sharing it with you." – Katie

Lists & more lists

So as you may have noticed I have given my website a little spruce up. New photos, changed the front around etc etc.....it's coming into winter here in NZ and things needed brightening up!

So while making magical changes (ha) I took a look at my blog.....it's been a while since it's had an update. Does anyone else feel like if they don't have something written down on a to do list it just gets forgotten about.

Whilst thinking about what to write today I "borrowed" this graphic from http://www.thehappinessagenda.com blog and it had some interesting points. This is what I liked the most:

You’ll quickly notice that everything on your list falls into one of 3 categories:
Picture

Stuff you NEED to get done.  (N)

Stuff you WANT to get done.  (W)

And stuff you feel that you SHOULD get done.  (S)

Now go down the list with a pen, and, item by item, put an N, a W, or an S next to each item.

Once you’ve gotten to the bottom of the list, and assigned every single line item an “N”, a “W” or an “S”, bring your eyes back to the top.

So what I really want to know from this update is - what do you do to make sure you get shit done? Or are you one of the lucky ones that doesn't worry all too much about getting things done and just get on with it....

I'm off to write a list of more interesting things to talk about on my blog....hehe let me know if you have an idea ay!!!

Cheers
Katie

Everything that Glitters

So I was asked the other day "when do you think you'll feel like you've 'made it'?"

I don't really want to get started on the definition of "MADE IT" because as far as I'm concerned there is no endgame when it comes to a career in music. You just keep working hard at it & take opportunities as they arise.

On a somewhat serious note though - I just watched Imagine Dragons performance at the MTV 2013 EMA's......they had glitter fall from the roof......I've decided that is my goal......not the EMA's.......the glitter. I'm serious - if you knew me well you'd know this to be true!

I don't know whether other people think these things when they watch stuff like this is what sprung into my mind:
  • Who organises the glitter?
  • How do they know how much to have?
  • How do the release it so perfectly?
  • Does it get in peoples eyes?
  • Do they do a test run before the show?
  • How do they clean that shit up - everyone knows glitter is with you for like 6 weeks after you've had some on you.

One day I want this to be someones problem because I asked for glitter to fall from the sky during my performance........a girls allowed to dream right!

In other news - the music video for One Night Stand is out THIS WEEK!!!!
