MESSAGE TO PEOPLE WHO WERE ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR A "ONE NIGHT STAND" IN CHRISTCHURCH......

This blog is about my music video One Night Stand that was shot in Christchurch. I'm an alright singer/songwriter so you really should watch the music video!!

Plus if you are going out having one night stands be safe ay!!

Well ladies & gents...that was a massive weekend!

As you'll appreciate I won't be uploading too many photos before the music video is released as I'd like it to be a little bit of a surprise for you all. What I can do is share with you the amazing people that made it all possible! It takes a big team to pull off a music video of this quality!

Melissa Nancekivell - Fleur De Lis Florist
Melissa was the first person I contacted once Rick and I came up with a concept. She put my mind completely at ease when she said she would come over to Christchurch for the weekend to help out. She did an amazing job as you will soon see! A special thank you to Joy & Carole at Kyler Jean's & Sue from Bishopdale Florists.

Lucy Harvey Makeup Artist
Lucy done an amazing job and it was great not to have to worry if I had lipstick on my teeth and if my face was staying on. She was there the entire day and we even conned her into playing a part in the music video. I would completely recommend Lucy for wedding, event, music video makeup! She doesn't force her ideas upon you and easily figures out what you want to achieve look wise.

Ailish Jewellery
I met Ailish in Hokitika at the opening of her sisters new business. I noticed an amazing piece of jewellery and got talking. As many of you will know I love my bullet ring from C Breeze Jewellery and that was worn also but I was lucky enough to borrow 3 pieces from Ailish for the music video.  Please be sure to go check out her work - it is AMAZING. In fact there is a ring there that I have my eye on - might just have to do a couple more gigs to acquire one! It's a music expense right?!?

Annah.S Hokitika
Angie from Annah Stretton in Hokitika was my stylist for the video and provided us with some beautiful dresses for the day. She came along and ensured that the dresses sat properly - even helped catch the budgie when she made a daring escape. With a real attention to detail she helped choose the right dresses for my body type and make me look & feel amazing. A thank you to Annah Stretton for allowing me to wear a dress that is currently not released for sale - it is AMAZING!!! Can't wait for everyone to see it on screen! I WANT ONE (hint, hint......can't hurt to put it out there right!?!).

Emma Cameron
Below you'll see Christchurch band Ashei's page mentioned - Emma is front woman for this band. As most of you will know I have moved to Christchurch from the West Coast and although I miss home terribly one of the major bonuses of living here is being around like minded people. Don't get me wrong there are amazing musicians on the West Coast but not many my age or gender and at the same stage of their career as I am.  I was fortunate enough to have her help throughout the day on set - even twisted her arm to "act" with me!! It's not often I come across people I just click with and I'm lucky to have formed a great friendship with this gal.....I shall be her art department/coffee girl/soundie/beitch when her band makes their next video. Promise!

 AMAZING PEOPLE
  • John Chrisstoffels Director of Photography
  • Julian Vares Camera Assistant
  • Josie Meachen Production Co ordinator
  • Andy Dean Gaffer/Grip
  • Nathan Moore Handyman

This lot are the people who get the business done! John, Julian & Andy have vision for how it's going to come together and get into it. No shaggin' around - they just do it. I can't wait to see the final product. I'm very grateful to have such a talented team help make this happen.  Nathan helped move pretty much everything in and out of the set which required many trips around town. Josie was absolutely wonderful on the day....I'm a touch of a control freak and like to know what's happening and when but I quickly realised that she had it under control.....but she also didn't mind me asking constantly what's happening.

MORE AMAZING PEOPLE
Kommi Tamati
Eddie Low
Pyper Nancekivell
Max de Thier Hunt

Asking a man you don't know to play the part of your one night stand is a rather peculiar thing.....but Kommi didn't seem to have any problems with it. On the day he was a total pro and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I was getting face on and dressed while he was doing his thing so I'm not even sure what he was getting up to in "my bedroom". Thanks for losing the beard too!! :)

As I was looking through vinyl I came across some great kiwi country acts....one happened to be Eddie Low. Now, I met Eddie a couple of years ago and he made a real effort to talk to me when I was feeling rather out of my depth at the country music awards. On Friday night Rick (director) and I were talking and Rick said "wouldn't it be great to get Eddie Low in the video". My instant reaction was heck yes it would be....this was followed quickly by an email. I realised my chances were pretty slim as we were 2 days out from filming and Eddie is a busy man. Lucky for me he had a gap in his schedule and he's staring in the video......the only awkward moment was when he asked "what's the song called?"..........red face Katie!

Pyper is Melissa daughter and in return for Melissa doing an awesome job helping me out Pyper got a role in the video. I can't wait for everyone to see what Pyper got to do in the video - definitely not something she's allowed to do in her mothers store anyway.

We had the need for a cute young man and Max come to the rescue! If acting is what he wants to pursue then he's gonna be sorted. He was a complete little professional and I only managed to make him blush once. A massive thank you to him & his family for sticking around on set as long as they did!! Can't wait to see his part!!

Liz from Shop 8 in New Regent Street was a total legend for opening early for us. People without their caffeine fix are just awful, awful people (aka me) so cheers!!

Jeff the property manager made our life so easy being able to hire the space in New Regent Street. Once we had this secured we could come up with all our crazy/awesome ideas. Gem to work with!! Good neighbour too!

Belmont Productions
I met Rick Harvie of Belmont Productions back in November when I recorded the live EP Moving On. It was a last minute decision to get the session filmed as well and that was made possible thanks to Monteiths Brewing Company. Anywho - we got talking and decided it would be a great idea to make a music video for one of the singles I also recorded. After numerous NZ On Air application failures and "really close" goes on theaudience.co.nz I thought bugger it - lets just see if we can raise the money online.

Rick has put up with me for a good long while now. This is the first music video I've made where I've felt I've been allowed to have a creative input and felt comfortable sharing my ideas. I would highly recommend him to any musician wanting to make a video and also any company wishing to improve their online presence through video.

This wouldn't have been possible without the hours Rick has spend and I can't thank him enough!

Lastly - a massive thank you to those of you who contributed towards the making of this video. I am so grateful to have such a supportive fan base and I really wouldn't be able to do any of these projects without your support. I can't wait to share the finished product with you all!!!

Cheers
