You may be thinking "what the heck is Patreon - what are you up to now?"

Well, Patreon is a site that allows fans from all over the world to help support the artists they believe in.

It works like a normal crowdfunding sites except instead of giving a large amount of money at one time for a project you give a set amount (like a $2 tip) per creation - for me it will be per video. You can also set a limit for the month - so you'll never be charged more than you've allowed for.

I plan to release a video of a cover or original song once a fortnight and have some of my favourite songs ready to record!

Once you become a Patron you'll also have access to my Patron only stream where I'll be sharing video blogs, photos, lyrics and hold virtual hangouts where we can chat and I can play a tune or two.

The funds raised on Patreon will go towards recording my latest award-winning song West Coast, creating an official video for that song and eventually recording an entire album!

The beauty of Patreon is that you'll get to be a part of the journey as it happens!
Patreon has been running successfully for 3 years now and I believe it is a new way forward for creators. Your support means I can focus on writing and recording new music!

Thank you for taking the time to read - please check out my page. If you can do so, please consider becoming my patron for as little as $1. Every dollar counts and it will help me continue creating new music!

Cheers

Guess What?

You guessed right. I am with child!

It's becoming rather obvious that I haven't just had too much chocolate. So in this very modern way, I'm letting you know, that for Christmas this year I'll have myself a baby.

My husband and I decided we're ready to give this parenting thing a go! Well, as ready as anyone can be for this life changing adventure.

For a long time, I was worried that becoming a parent would stop me pursuing my music career. However, I have role models such as Tami Neilson, Anna van Riel, Anna Coddington and Anika Moa. They make it seem completely possible to be a kick arse singer/songwriter/wonder-woman and a Mumma too. These ladies better not have a nanny at home or I will be highly pissed off!

So here are some fun facts I'd like to throw out there before the flood of personal questions come in:
  • Are we finding out whether it's a girl or boy: No
  • Do I wish to discuss birthing options: No
  • Do I want to hear all about birthing war stories: Hell No
  • Is it cool to tag me in baby related topics on Facebook: No
  • Did I suffer from morning sickness or other health issues: No
  • Was this an accident: No
  • Do I wish to receive Johnny Cash baby apparel, mustache dummies or sparkly outfits: YES!!!!

Seriously, send them my way - I haven't bought a single thing. Do you know how hard it is to buy unisex clothing....it's so boring!

What I really want you to know is that I will 100% continue to create music and I am currently writing. I will be sleep deprived and not make much sense (what's new) from January till March 2017. I apologise in advance.

That's what coffee is for...right?

Soooo....I'm off to panic buy some gender neutral clothes and write some more songs.

WILDFOODS FESTIVAL 2015

The Wildfoods Festival is as West Coast as whitebait, Monteiths or calling a spade an efff'n shovel.
I've lost track of how many times I've performed at the Festival.

They call it Wildfoods for a reason as you can grab yourself a Huhu grub, Grasshoppers, Mussels and Mountain Oysters. Personally I've only ever tried the huhu grub.....lets just say you'll need a nice cold Monteith's to wash away the taste.

So any who - the point to this little entry is I'm playing at the Festival this year!

I'm lucky enough to have Rob Grover come along and be my right hand man.
I'd like to know what songs you'd like to hear from me.
Leave a comment below and I'll see what I can do!

Here's the website for more information.

First success of the year!

First off - Happy New Year!!!

I know I'm late in saying it but I've been busy & I'm sure you had a good one! I spent New Years Eve in the middle of Christchurch at a Shihad gig and then went to Picton for a couple of days - not a bad start to 2015 at all!

Ok so as most of you will know I run a music services company called Quirky Music and as part of it I manage crowd funding campaigns for other artists.

Last year I successfully helped Jenny Mitchell, Liam Kennedy-Clark, Cooper's Run & Cam Luxton raise funds for their projects. I love working with people that are passionate about what they're doing!

The first success of this year was Sarah Conlan & Into The East who were raising funds for a music video for their song Veins. It's great to see how campaigns really show an artist how much support they have. I can't wait to see the video!!

I have some really exciting campaigns coming up and can't wait to get stuck into them. If you're a musician thinking about starting a crowd funding campaign and would like some support along way please get in touch info@quirkymusic.co.nz

I also have some great gigs coming up - details on my latest newsletter!

Cheers
